I've been looking forward to seeing Where The Wild Things Are for months, so it was with dangerously high expectations that I was able to see it a couple of weeks early at a special screening to raise money for
826LA last night.
Despite my high expectations I really loved the movie.
The event itself was pretty awesome as well, with several of the actors in attendance as well as director Spike Jonze who did a Q&A after the movie finished and showed a short film he did with Catherine Keener in which they acted out a short story they recorded Maurice Sendak telling.
I can't imagine a better way to experience a great movie for the first time. +10

I loved how 'real' the movie itself was (at least relative to most movies you see these days) with a minimum amount of CGI used in the film. Someone asked Spike how they created the "boat in rough water" scene, to which he replied that they put a boat in some rough water and filmed it. I'm glad Michael Bay didn't direct this movie, imagine the Wild Things having their island blown up.

It releases officially on October 16th, check it out if you can. Trailers and clips
here and some sweet fan art I found below.
